Thank you for your comment. Touch wood, the hip issue is improving. It's not 100% by any means, but I have developed a new-found addiction to stretching and core exercises. Even if I don't run the marathon (though the current plan is to have a go), I will have hip flexors of steel!

When someone mentions being an athlete the most immediate image that springs to mind is someone moving around looking fit and healthy. Illness and injury are not often part of the picture. But they are a key part of being an amateur or professional athlete. Thanks for posting about how you are doing Jonathan. It is so helpful to have someone share their frustrations and how they are working back to doing the things they love after a set-back. I am sure you will make the right choices - push yourself far enough, without going too far, undoing all the work you are doing recuperating. I really hope you make it to London, like the rest of your blogging friends, I am so happy you are on the mend.

I do love a 10 miler, long enblew for the benefits of good training to show, and short enough that preparations do not take over my life (unlike marathon!). An iconic 10 is the Paris-Versailles race at the end of September, you start at the Eiffel Tower and end just outside the Palace of Versailles. And it's not too expensive either, around €25.

I will check out the Hampshire race, I've got connections in the county so it will be a good one to keep on the radar. Thanks for the review!
